Eighteen - Tre

S omething had certainly changed over the weekend. Kim had dropped me by the office so that I could pick up my bike, but she insisted she was tired and wanted a quiet night in. She'd been quiet the whole ride back. I wanted to find out what she'd talked with Ma about before we left, but both women were tight-lipped. Still, Kim was pulling back – and I won't lie, it fucking hurt. Because that's what women do. They hurt you. My brain yelled at me. Not her . My heart argued. Then there was my dick. It was aching just to be near her, the feel of her skin around it.

So that's how I spent the rest of my Sunday night, blue-balled by who knows what. Maybe I had read things wrong with her. Maybe she wasn't as interested in me as I thought. Waking up next to her felt amazing though, and waking up alone this morning – was lonely as fuck. I stopped by her coffee shop, ordering what I knew was her favorite order, half hoping I'd catch her on her way in, like I was some fucking love-sick teenager. She was already in when I got to work though, her door closed and the little "Do Not Disturb" magnet signifying she wanted to be left alone.

Fat fucking chance of that. I knocked once, then opened the door. There was a tall dark-haired man sitting on the desk, just like I had just a few days before, laughing about something. Jealousy ached in me. "Frasier?" I said from the doorway. Her head jerked up, a laugh on her lips, and fuck if she didn't look beautiful. That made me even more angry.

"Tre!" She smiled at me, actually had the gall to smile at me? With this asshole perched on her desk like he owned it and the Do Not Disturb sign on her door? I stood there like a jackass as the guy turned around, he looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't place from where. She stood up, and he did the same. Then something little and loud rushed past my legs, nearly throwing me off balance.

"SISSY KIMMY!!!" A little girl with black pigtails bounded into the room, waving her little arms. Kim's face lit up and it started to make sense to me who this was now.

"Divira Adrianne Curucio!" A woman hissed from behind me. "I am so, so sorry." She apologized, putting her hand on my shoulder as she walked further into the room. "Someone decided it was a good idea to let her have a sip of his americano at the airport." She looked a lot like Kim, and I recognized her instantly from the pictures she'd shown me. The man who had been leaning against her desk laughed a little, earning a glare from his wife. "It's not funny Nathan."

"Oooh…" Kim said, laughing as she picked the little girl up and swung her around. "Sounds like Daddy's in some big trouble huh?" The little girl giggled madly in her arms, kicking her legs as Kim tickled her.
